General Secretariat DDPS

The General Secretariat of the DDPS (GS-DDPS) assists the Head of the department in his function as member of the Federal Council and in managing the department. It is responsible for the implementation of the policy in the departmental sectors of defence, civil protection, sport and armasuisse. The GS-DDPS manages planning, controlling and coordination at the department level.

For the work as Head of the department and member of the government, a Federal Councillor needs an efficient staff. The General Secretariat fulfils this task, which in the DDPS comprises the following areas:

Areas

  • Deputy Secretary General - Legal Division DDPS, Damage Compensation Centre DDPS
  • Staff of the Head of the DDPS
  • Deputy Secretary General - Security Policy 
  • Communication DDPS
  • Finances DDPS
  • Personnel DDPS
  • Area Planning and Environment DDPS

In addition to these areas of the GS-DDPS, the following organisational units have been assigned to the Secretary General for administration:

  • Office of the Armed Forces Attorney General
