Sport keeps you healthy. Sport unites. Sport inspires. The Federal Office of Sports ensures that sport and exercise never lose their appeal. From youth to old age and across all social and language barriers.
The Federal Office of Sports has about 280 staff in its five business areas: Swiss Sports Institute, Institute of Sport Sciences, Infrastructure and Logistics, Media and Communications and the Youth Sports Centre Tenero.
Swiss Sports Institute Magglingen (SSIM)
The Swiss Sports Institute Magglingen (SSIM) is a sports training centre with a wide range of courses for sports teachers, trainers and athletes.
Institute of Sport Sciences (ISS)
The Institute of Sport Sciences (ISS) is the research centre of the FOSPO. Its efforts are aimed at assisting people who practise sport. Research and development of the ISS is focused on
- orthopaedics and rehabilitation
- sports medicine and performance diagnostics
- sports psychology and social sciences
- Promoting health and fighting against doping.
Infrastructure and Logistics Division
The Infrastructure and Logistics Division runs and maintains all installations and buildings of the FOSPO. It plans and coordinates some 2,000 courses, competitive events and conferences annually.
Media and Communications Section
The Media and Communications Section produces sport-related media for both lessons and information. With about 45,000 titles, it runs the largest public sports media library in Switzerland.
Youth Sports Centre Tenero (YSCT)
The Youth Sports Centre Tenero (YSCT) is the extended arm of the FOSPO in canton Ticino. It has been devised as a meeting point for young people from all over Switzerland.
