Are you planning a business trip abroad on behalf of the federal authorities? Is your enterprise hosting an international business delegation on behalf of the government? If so and classified information is being exchanged in the process, the following protective measures must be observed.

The exchange of classified information with international partners requires Switzerland and the partner country to arrange specific protective measures. These protective measures are regulated by national legislation and their application has been arranged through agreements on the protection of classified information.

If you are planning a business trip abroad and your host requires a request for visit authorisation, please complete the corresponding form and submit it to Information Security and Facility Protection (ISFP) via your security officer (rfv@gs-vbs.admin.ch).

Important: Please verify the anticipated level of classified information involved with your host.

If your host has classified the visit at the CONFIDENTIAL security level or above, all visitors must hold valid personnel security clearance issued by the federal authorities and be Swiss nationals.

Only required and encrypted information may be taken abroad and must be adequately protected by personal safekeeping or in your carry-on luggage.

If you as a contractor would like to award a foreign sub-contractor a contract with classified military content, you must be sure that your foreign sub-contractor adheres to the necessary security measures and is adequately certified. Information Security and Facility Protection (ISFP) must conduct security procedures to confirm certification.

The foreign contractor must be established in a country that has an agreement on mutual protection of classified information with Switzerland.

If the visit requires access to classified information at the CONFIDENTIAL or SECRET level, the visitors must complete and submit a request for visit to Information Security and Facility Protection (ISFP) (rfv@gs-vbs.admin.ch).
